Here's a game I play to help children distinguish between similar letters:
Hang vowels or several similar consonants around the room.
When you say a word children must run to the vowel in the word or,
if you are using consonants, the first letter of the word.
Have children try saying words with these letters.
They can also point to letters, or have cards with the letters on the table if
that works better for you.

Hi Barry,
Of the top of my head.
1) N looks like × (in hand writing)
W looks like ש
now think of words that could stick in mind and would reflect
this difference.
I could think of:
MANÂ - (starts with ×).
WASH (ends with ש)
2) W is a double u
  M is a double n
3) Old school - teach them the song YMCA with the classic movements
that depict the letters.
4) Y -Â Â Â David had a friend - Yoram. Together
they exercised using
the slingshot... continue th story.
5) h - is a ×ר with the antenna on top of it.
Best,
Ariel

Speaking of W and N...
I remember attending lectures about all kind of cutsie ways to
remember letters;Â like c was the horns of a Cow, and so on.
I don't remember any of them, and I'm teaching a group of 4 very
special boys and I need stuff like that, so if anyone has

teaching ANY letters, please don't be shy.
