In theory, it is supposed to be the same amount of work, especially since you
are supposed to do the same seven key components regardless of whether you're
doing the log or the exam. If you are doing it, I assume you're going to check
it - I mean, are you going to give students a post-reading task and then not
grade it? Of course, these are the grades that make up your magen mark for the
literature module. And yes, I would think that doing all the tasks would make
students much more likely to succeed on the exam - but I have a sneaking
suspicion that at least some teachers will end up cutting corners on that.

One difference between the log work and exam work is that you don't need to
keep
all that work if you're doing the exam - so long as you have the grades safely
recorded, students don't have to keep the work as proof that they did it. You
also don't need to check that they did ALL the work for the seven key
components
- I went through each log and checked off a list of each exercise that I had
required students to do, which did take a while. On the other hand, if you're
doing the log, you don't have to review all the pieces before the test, as you
do for the exam. So there is a trade-off.

All the best,
Rivka

I have a big question ( having read all that's being said about log vs exam) I
always felt that preparing students for the lit exam or the log has to be the
exact same thing since they learn the same pieces of lit they have to write the
same amount of writing otherwise how could they be prepared to write it on the
day of the bagrut? We prepae them to success don't we? As far as the administry
is concerned wouldn't it be much problematic if the exam results come back with
low grades? Wouldn't that still be our problem. At least with the log we are
the
ones who give the grade.

It seems to me that the same amount of work has to be put in it's only the
final
work that is different. Or am I getting this whole thing wrong?
Kobi
