Subject: Belated Halloween idea
I know that Halloween comes only one a year. You might
want to save this idea for 364 days.
I was in the real Halloween spirit yesterday and spent some
fun and productive time with my 11th grade Native Speakers.
In the computer room they searched for sites to find out about
the history of the holiday and see how the modern customs
came about...trick or treating, Jack O'Lanterns, etc. We also
read about the connection between witches and brooms and
I taught the kids "The Witch Song" by Bonnie Lockhart.
And finally,again online, they each read a spooky story or two.
For a writing assignment, they had to come up with a
"Witches Brew" or pen a scary ghost story. Most chose the first
option and I won't repeat some of the ingredients that went into
the potential potions they cooked up...this might be spammed!
But it was in good fun and they also learned something.
