Subject: Two versions of Bagrut exam

Dear ETNI'ers,

Here is my first impression of the Winter Bagrut. All in all I think that tests were fair. My pupils who did D and E felt good . I think D was a bit easy although the topic for the essay was a bit strange. I don't think any teachers imagined having to describe a decision !! I worked with my students on describing places, trips, people and so forth.. Well at least my kids felt it was a topic they could write on.

My one main concern and complaint was not knowing about the two versions. I have NO problem with having two versions. We had them in the past and I was surprised that they stopped but reinstating them without letting us know seems a little unfair. Now I did try to clarify why we didn't know on the day of the Bagrut. I was told (when I called the testing headquarters) that the information appeared in the "Hozer Manchal" of Dec. I searched for it
with my principal but neither of us found anything. Even if this is the
case I don't understand why this information wasn't put up on the anglit.net site.

Why was it important.?? First to inform the people who give out the casettes for 'Hakrat Shaalon" that they needed to give the pupils version A of the test. So in the beginning there was a mess and kids got the wrong test. And then also for the oral exams. I gave instructions to have each tester get two exams in order to be able read to the student more comfortably (and not be hanging over his shoulder!!) Here too version A ruled. !! To make a long story short we ran out of version A in the end and valuable time was wasted.
(the students). We even got a call from another school looking for version
A of one module. So what was the problem???

I feel a bit (to put it mildly) offended that I missed this information. I know that all the teachers and coordinators I have talked to so far also didn't know about the two versions.

So does anyone know what the story is?? I am also trying to clarify
it through the right channels but I'm curious as to what the English community knows or knew.

Thanks
Aviva
