[etni] ideas for past simple exceptions

I am teaching past simple to a weak seventh grade class. Does anyone have
any good ideas for how to learn/practice the (many) verbs which are
exceptions to the general rule? I have tried book practice, quizzes, and
exposure but am wondering if anyone has used any games, songs, or posters
effectively with this age group.
