I'm going to try to send Aviva's documents here. This is her job
description. I hope it works.

*The English Coordinator's role*

* *

The English coordinator should be an educator who has a vision. S/he must
have clear goals, which s/he translates into effective actions. S/he needs
to set objectives for his/her staff, which can be successfully measured and
achieved.

Long range planning done *in cooperation with the staff* is one of the main
functions of the English coordinator. S/he should not be only a disseminator
of information. The coordinators must know the curriculum ,the policies of
the Ministry and their own school's policy however this does not mean that
s/he is a 'glorified secretary' only useful in explaining and administrating
these policies.

After setting realistic and achievable goals *with the staff* based on the
Ministry's policy and curriculum, the coordinator has to oversee, monitor
and ensure that the policy and that the set goals are implemented. It is
his/her role to evaluate and assess his/her staff in as objective a manner
as possible. The *ultimate goal* of any English staff is the advancement of
all pupils in the English language.

The staff members should be assessed in both formal and informal ways. The
informal manner will include face-to-face chats, observation of staff
members as they interact with each other, their interaction with students,
and their working relationships within the school community. It also
includes feedback from non- English staff whether received from students'
comments or homeroom teacher's observations. Formal assessment will include
the coordinator observing the teachers teaching their classes, anonymous
feedback pages filled out by the students and visits by the English
inspector and/or principal in the teacher's classes.

English coordinators must also set goals for themselves and reflect upon
them throughout the school year. These goals need to be both achievable and
measurable. The coordinators have to be *proactive* and work within a
structured framework in order promote progress in English language learning
at all times. This can only be done if the coordinator works to develop a
cohesive staff that works cooperatively. One last (and in my opinion) very
important task of the coordinator is the fostering of a positive
relationship with the administration of the school and other members of the
school staff and community. This will ensure the support that the English
staff needs in order to achieve its goals.
