As a parent of high school students, eliminating the TEXT BOOKS ALONG THE YEAR altogether would save me hundreds of shekels a year. Since after all... most pupils don’t even bother to use their text books along the school year, they have become used to wait for the MIKUDIM... and learn only for the tests The past 3 years I've become used to throw away almost as new and unused text books, that have been replaced with MIKUDIM books, that, unsurprisingly, were totally used... Now this newspaper post has reinforced this well-known reality (denied by some though) that teachers given a MIKUD in the beginning of the year would adapt the learning goals accordingly... They are not getting rid of the Mikud, just publishing it at the beginning of the year. It means that they assume that everyone has always been "teaching to the test", now they will just have more time to do it.
