Hi all, I'm proud to say that my school has participated in the pilot of the Literature Module Program. We chose the exam and I wanted to share with you how worthwhile the whole process has been. The teachers implemented this experimental new program of infusing higher order thinking skills in the Literature and Culture Appreciation curricular requirement. I have to tell you that although it was a very demanding and exhausting procees during which we probably worked harder than at any other time in our long careers, we have been constantly overjoyed with the utterly positive effect the whole program was having on the approach to the subject of English in general and the reading of English literature in particular. I know there have been voices questioning the merit of this new program but to those who have doubts let me just tell you from experience: the Literature Module Pilot Program and the literature exam at the end of it have revolutionized both the way students treat the subject of English and their proficiency level. Furthermore, if you don't know which program to do with your literature Module, I wholeheartedly recommend the exam. Students have upgraded their knowledge of the language while acquiring and practicing challenging thinking skills. And on top of all that, so many of them came out of the exam room on Tuesday Feb 17th with a smile on their faces and said: we felt we knew the answers because we studied and prepared for the exam. It's so refereshing to see that one's success in English can be directly attributed to one's effort. In short, I want to say to all of you literature enthusiasts, yes we can! We can make them read it, we can make them like it and appreciate it. We can make them think and be proud of it.
