I've been living here for 36 years and I've been surprised
over and over again by expressions and word usage which I
never heard growing up in the USA. For example, at a lecture
given by an American researcher I heard words which were only
used as nouns being used as verbs. In order to clarify any
questions about expressions being used today I would ask
someone who is living in an English speaking country and is
exposed to the changes in English on a daily basis.
All the very best,
Shneor
