Rick, when will your training manual be released for version 3.5?
Sarai,
You can turn automatic route recalculation off by performing the following steps:
1. Press O to enter the GPS Options Menu.
2. Move down in the menu until you hear "off-route recalculation" and press ENTER.
3. Press M for manual.
4. Press ESCAPE to exit the GPS Options Menu.
Now, press BACKSPACE + Dot 3 on the BT keyboard or SLASH or BACKSLASH on the QT keyboard when you want to recalculate a route. Hope this helps.

Hi: Last night, mine recalculated in a vehicle rout w/ no warning. It might have been because there are two ways to get to my destination and the BN probably was adjusting for the way that Mom chose to get there.

Mike,
I will try going to a differen area. As far as the recalculation goes, it isn't the function I like, it is how the BN seems to do it for no reason. I will not be told anything--no turns, no "continue straights" no nothing--and all of a sudden I hear, "recalculating pedestrian". I have no idea why it does this. Should I reinstall or something? Maybe redownload and replace my map? I saved one of the routes that gave me trouble. Should I send that to anyone?
Thanks, Alex

Alex,
It is hard to know what is exactly happening without being there. Two suggestions:
Try a route in a completely different area and see what happens.
And, you can turn the automatic route recalculation off in theGPS Options Menu if you don't like the behavior.

At 01:34 PM 4/30/2006, you wrote:Hi all,
I finally got a nice day, with little wind so I could hear my BN. I took a walk with GPS 3.5 and my mPower, using the EarthmateBlue Logger. I created a route, and intentionally went the wrong way at first, but was never told I was wrong. I turned around, giving up on being notified of my error, a feature I was looking forward to. After a while of NOT being told to turn (there was only one street to turn on anyway) I was told I had missed to points along the route. I was told to turn left, correctly, and I must say the accuracy was amazing; I was told to turn at the exact moment when I would have still been on the sidewalk. That narrow a margin and it still got it right!
Anyway, things like that kept happening--going the wrong way butonly being told so once, randomly being told I had missed two points of which I was never notified... and I was always being told "recalculating pedestrian route" when I had never been told to turn. Why does this happen? It is absolutely maddening; I was looking forward to all the new features, and the accuracy is amazing. Now, however, it seems my GPS refuses to give me any information on where I am going. I read the routes section of the manual, and it told me nothing I didn't already know. Oh, what is the "connecting to street" in the route? For example, the first waypoint would be a few feet away, called "connecting to (street name)", where street name was either the street or intersection from which I was supposed to start. BTW, I was never below having 5 satellites (48? feet) the whole time.
Thanks for any help, Alex
