Hi Kevin, there is also a tremendous amount of RF attenuation in planes caused by the amount of metal surrounding you. If planes had observation domes like trains, then you might acquire more than the average number of satellites. Jim ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kevin Chao" <kevinchao89@xxxxxxxxx>

I have seen 13/14 satellites at time as well. Don't beleiveethat beingg in
an area of high elevation causes you to pick up more satellites. Well, at
least, the times i have used it on a plane didn't produce these results. I
actually have seen fewer satellites while in the sky, then I do on the
ground, because of the limited view the receiver has to the satellites.

Maybe you were higher than you thought! Um altitude wise. That would allow

longer line of sight and allow you to pick up more satellites. Or, maybe
they turned on one of the spare GPS satellites in the constellation that are

normally left off. I think there are three sort of spare satellites they
can use when they need to recalibrate one. Fact is, I really have no idea
why you would see 13 satellites but I thought I'd throw out a couple of
reasons. So that's what you should do, throw them out! Smile, Jim

Hi folks!
While on my walk this morning, I checked how many satellites were visible
and I was using the Voice Sense and Sense Nav when this happened. Anyway
it said 13 satellites. Huh? I thought there were only 12 of them per
hemosphere. Just thought I'd share because it was so strange.
All you folks going to csun have a good time.
