Hi Kevin, there is also a tremendous amount of RF attenuation in planes caused by the amount of metal surrounding you. I have seen 13/14 satellites at time as well. Don't beleiveethat beingg in an area of high elevation causes you to pick up more satellites. Well, at least, the times i have used it on a plane didn't produce these results. I actually have seen fewer satellites while in the sky, then I do on the ground, because of the limited view the receiver has to the satellites. I think there are three sort of spare satellites they can use when they need to recalibrate one.
