Hi! I'm new on this list, so I don't know if this question has been discussed here earlier. My question is if there are any plans or thoughts of making BrailleNote GPS available for other platforms than the BrailleNote. Here in Norway I don't think anybody uses the BrailleNote. There is no tradition here for using notetakers. People get portable PC's with braille displays and a screenreader from the social service system. The social service system also pays for screenreaders like Talks or Mobile Speak for mobile telephones. I've tested Trekker and Wayfinder, and my opinion is that for me, who are totally blind Trekker gives much better information than Wayfinder. I'm working on a national resource centre for the blind, and I've also shown Trekker and Wayfinder for people that have visited our centre. Most people say that they prefer Trekker, but they also say that they wish that they could have used it on their mobile phone because they always have their mobile phone with them. I've read through the manual for BrailleNote GPS, and it seems like this program has many functions and possibilities that you don't find in Trekker. Therefore I think it would be very interesting if the program could be used on other devices than the BrailleNote. The last year there have come two screenreaders for the Pocket PC operating system, - Mobile Speak for Pocket PC and Pocket Hal. In the near future these screenreaders will also work on the mobile edition that is used on smart phones. I'm not a programmer so I don't know how difficult it would be to make BrailleNote GPS available for other devices than the BrailleNote, but since BrailleNote is based on Windows CE I suppose it's easier to make a version for the Pocket PC operating system than it would be to make an edition for the Symbian operating system. But if it's possible to make a version for Symbian phones, I think that would be even better because a lot of people already have phones with Talks or Mobile Speak.
