My experience with it is that it works great when walking but it does not work
well in a moving vehicle.

Agreed that it can be hit and miss. I have seen lots of Amtrak stops
in the Sendero GPS database. I have added stops in Northern California
in the User POI database. I suspect it is the same for the Foursquare
POI database that most of the apps use. You will also see junk where
users add things such as a moving train but it is clear which ones are
official as they have a letter code like airports.

Try Blind Square. It might be hit and miss though which stations come
up and which do not. Most GPS apps will have the Amtrak stations in
them, but accuracy is another thing altogether. I would suggest
finding the GPS app you are comfortable using and then pulling up the
stations for the Amtrak route you will be on. Use the search feature
of the GPS app to then pull up each station and add them to favorites.
Hopefully they will announce.
Again this can be hit an miss on Amtrak, and not all GPS apps work as
well as others do.

A friend asked me this question last night and it got me curious.
Our friend will be traveling by Amtrak later this Summer. She wants to
know if there is an app which will announce upcoming stops?
I have not heard of any GPS app that will do this. thoughts?
