Keep in mind that addresses are determined by either the postal service
or a city or county, so unless the app or program has a database of
actual addresses, the address it gives isn't much more than an educated
guess. For example, a large shopping mall may have a single address for
the whole complex.

Your observation on tom-tom versus Google does not equate with mine. I
found and find Google maps more accurate than tom-tom. Which I think
points to something that is often pointed out, results and maps vary
from place to place.

When the app was able to use the 3 different map sources, it was
interesting to compare them. I actually found the TomTom maps to provide
the most accurate address info, it would usually provide a particular
address such as 3522 main street. With google maps and open street maps,
the most it could provide was a range such as 3500 3599. I think google
maps is free where as the TomTom maps have to be licensed, is that why
the TomTom maps were removed?

Mike,

Using Google maps.

I believe Blindsquare licenses a secondary voice. I didn't think you

could change the background Apple voice, which we use in our app.

Thanks for the suggestions. We are updating our wish list and will
add these items. We just need to get a sponsor to pay for the update
and then we will proceed with improvements.

Subject: [gps-talkusers] a question about the newest version of the
seeing eye app and a few suggestions

Hey everyone. I notice with the newest version of the seeing eye app,

there is no longer an option for what map source to use, just was
wondering which source the program is using now.
Now for my suggestions. I notice in the manual it says to not really
rely on the app features that run in the background, I disagree.
While walking, it's often difficult to access on screen information,
there are a few things that I would like to see added to what is
spoken when the program is running in the background. First, when
your direction changes, this should be spoken.
Also, on the screen, as you approach a street, the distance to that
street shows and decreases as you get closer. It would be very nice
to be able to have this spoken while the screen is locked rather than

to just announce the street itself when you are close to it. Finally,

there needs to be a way to adjust the speaking rate of the voice that

is used when running in the background.
The default rate is quite fast and it's easy to miss something,
blindsquare is able to do this, so it is possible.
