It gives me great pleasure in announcing our special guest on Tek Talk for
Monday, January 23, 2017, Mike May, who most of us have known for a number
of years. Mike has had many accomplishments in his life that have allowed
thousands of people to realize that blindness does not stop one from
reaching his/her goals in life. A few of these include blind ski champion,
sky-diving solo in a static jump, and numerous other sports activities.
Later in his life, Mike became another champion by advancing adaptive
technology for blind folks with his last 20 years by continuing improvements
with GPS by starting his own company, Sendero.
Mike has been on Tek Talk at the beginning of each year for several years
reporting on the Consumer Electronics Show held the first week each January
in Las Vegas, Nevada to tell the Tek Talk listeners about many of the new
devices which he believes will provide more assistance in the lives of blind
and low vision folks.

Mike May, President of Sendero Group, will provide his perspective on the
world's largest technology show with over 170,000 attendees this year. The
International CES is the world's gathering place for all who thrive on the
business of consumer technologies. It celebrated its 50th year anniversary
by exhibiting even more innovators and breakthrough technology with a
recording-breaking exhibit floor that spanned more than 2.6 million net
square feet. As the largest hands-on event of its kind, CES features all
aspects of the industry. Mike has been attending CES since 1984 and
providing highlights to the blind community since 2000.
Listen in and ask questions as Mike gives us snippets of his findings while
attempting to cover the exhibit space in Las Vegas. Highlights from this
year include interconnected homes, the ever-growing category of Internet of
Things (IoT), high-tech and low-tech, common sense and whacky. This
presentation will be on Tek Talk, January 23 at 5PM Pacific.
