I was a blind car mechanic for 40 years. I have driven a lot but there is one
experience that really sticks out. I worked at a Porsche repair shop for a
while. I became very good with Carburetors. I had one customer who said that
I had to drive the car to tell what was wrong with it. She had practiced this
with her husband for a while before asking me to do it, but when we went for a
ride she said that the problem didn't happen until she was going faster then
130 miles per hour. She took us to a deserted road, and then she put me at the
wheel. She did a very good job of navigating, and I must say that I was both
thrilled and scared at the same time. I am convinced that if I could see I
would be either a good or a dead race car driver. That was one of the most fun
things I have ever done.

  Hi Judy,
I have had a similar opportunity. However, ours was at a driving school
circuit. I am South of you in Australia.
Does that mean we have supported the myth as being true "smile"?
  take care Jason

In Victoria Australia where I live, we have a chance to drive (albeit on a
race track) every March - what a buzz!
