Well, there are two ways you can go. You can get a Mophie juice Pack, which is a case that has a built in back up battery. When placing the phone in the case, the connector on the bottom of the phone plugs nicely into a plug in the case. There is a micro USB connector on the bottom of the case that is used to charge the phone and the pack. When your battery level on the phone is low, there is a switch on the back of the case that you push down to turn on the back up battery. It will charge the phone, and you can also use the phone while this is going on. I have the Mophie Juice Pack Helium, which is the smallest of the Juice packs. It feels allot like the Otter Box impact. It does add some weight to the phone, and some thickness, but doesn't really take much away from the form factor of the phone. The Juice Pack is a case, so you would not use it with a phone that is already in a case. The other choice would be to use one of the many external charging batteries that are on the market from brands like Mophie, Mycharge, Incredicharge, Limeaid, etc. These are basically bricks that have 2 or more ports that allow you to charge one or more devices at the same time, like your phone, Bluetooth headset or keyboard, etc. They are great for folks who travel often, and may be in places where they do not have access to AC. But if you are not traveling overnight, and just need a boost to get your phone through the day, something like the mophie Juice Pack may be all that you need. Hi, I use an otter box case on my iPhone. I'm considering getting a longer lasting battery pack to help out with GPS. If I do, can I still use the Otter box or would I have to use a different case? Thanks! John on Seeing Eye Gps ap store watch!! Although you really will like the release, the beta was excellent!
