[gps-talkusers] Slow GPS

I'm writing for Christine Hughes who is running GPS 3.5 on a BrailleNote
BT18 with Keysoft version 6.2 (the patch). She uses the EarthMate GPS receiver.
It takes sometimes 10 seconds to get a response from any query, for example,
next or nearest intersection, destination, etc. She has only one map loaded,
Kentucky, and she has removed the commercial poi for Kentucky because the
system was slower with it. Is this slowness normal for the BrailleNote (not the
m'Power) running 6.2? would she get any noticeable speed improvement if she
upgraded to Keysoft 7.0?
Can you suggest any other things she could do to gain speed?
Her map files and her own personal pois are on a compact flash card.
thanks for your help.

The receiver is yellow with writing that says Blue Logger. The case is
completely black with no writing.
