HI, Scott,

I have both--a BrailleNote BT 32 cell and the Braille Voyager 44. I got the Voyager 44 first as used. Then, about three years later, I got the BrailleNote. It depends how and where you want Braille. I love Braille with the computer since I can track spelling and learn new words that I wouldn't learn with speech. I don't do much Internet activity on the BrailleNote, though I could. I leave all my Email on the main computer, so I use it for that purpose. Then, it doesn't clutter up the BrailleNote.

I like to proof-read my own work on the computer, and it helps with the BrailleNote too. Formerly, I used a Braille 'N Speak before having the BrailleNote. A lot of my addresses and really basic info that a person would probably keep on a PDA were stored on the Braille 'N Speak. I recently sent the Braille 'N Speak back because it was having problems. All files were wiped out and even though I had backed some of them up, the back up wasn't as recent as I would have liked. That is the great advantage of the BrailleNote--having a card to back up files. Guess just plain file cards have their value, also.

If you want Braille with your Navigation, the BrailleNote is great for that purpose. You may want to get the Voyager then step more gradually into a GPS solution since things are changing so quickly now. Just some ideas for consideration.

I really enjoy Braille for Navigation. The commands are pretty straightforward and it is really a lot of fun to look at the Braile display while in a car.

Subject: [gps-talkusers] braille display question

This is somewhat off topic. I was originally thinking of going with a BN or similar to run Sendero's products as well as take care of my braille I/O needs. (Something I'm learning very rapidly I really need) I've decided to hold out for Mobile Geo to see if that meets my needs on a consumer device however, that doesn't address my braille needs. Does anyone have any comments on the braille voyager line of products, specifically the braile voyager 44? I have a chance to grab one used at a nice discount and wanted to see if they were worth the time. I'll take comments off list as this really isn't GPS related although if folks feel that the BN / other devices and Sendero are so well integrated I should just not waste my money I'd take that on list as that seems to be with in the guidelines. Should I wait for Mobile Geo and use a braille display only type of device or should I spend considerably more?

Thanks

Scott
