Subject: [gps-talkusers] Announcing Blindness Tech Fair For Those
In Central United States

Greetings.

This message is being copied to several lists, but it is not
automatically generated.

I wish to make an announcement that might be of interest for many
who
live in the Great Lakes region of the United States: A
blindness-oriented technology fair known as Vision Impaired
Solutions
for Total Access (V.I.S.T.A.) is to be held on the campus of the
University of Notre Dame in northern Indiana on Thr., 16 October,
2008, from 12:00-7:00 PM, Eastern Daylight Time. Admission is
free of
charge, but seating is limited and pre-registration is therefore
strongly encouraged.

V.I.S.T.A. is not the outreach of any pre-existing governmental
body
or blindness networking alliance, or political organization.
Instead,
it welcomes those with a variety of different viewpoints and ways
of
getting things done. It will feature presentations on a number
of
topics, including how those who partially or totally lack
eyesight can
efficiently leverage technology and other resources to gain
employment
and thrive in a diverse workplace. A presentation at 2:00 PM
will
demonstrate how even someone with no eyesight can function
independently in a scientific laboratory. In addition,
V.I.S.T.A.
will feature hands-on exhibits from several leading organizations
and
will highlight a wide array of notetakers, Daisy/MP3 players,
classroom tools, accessible medical monitoring devices, and
accessible
GPS and wireless phone solutions. Several affordable low vision
products will be featured as well. Representatives of HumanWare,
Freedom Scientific, Code Factory, GW Micro, the American Printing
House for the Blind, LevelStar, and the iLAB project from Penn
State
University will appear, among others.

I am advertising V.I.S.T.A. widely because this appears to be
the
first event of its kind ever to have been orchestrated for
Michiana:
that is, the region which encompasses northern Indiana and
southwestern Michigan. Detailed information, along with contact
information and a registration link, may be found on my personal
Web
page: http://kanebrolin.com/.

Feel free to contact me about this off-list at

If you heard about this from a mailing list, please take care not
to
respond directly to the list, out of courtesy to those who
archive
list content or who do not wish to participate in or hear about
V.I.S.T.A.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best regards,

Kane Brolin
