No real problems here with the Holux M-1000, either, and I interchangeably use the BN and Voice Sense on the bus going to and from work, as well as some to walk around here in the neighborhood. I usually acquire the satellites anywhere from right away to within up to a minute or so if say I haven't used the particular note taker in question for a few days. I then don't tend to lose my GPS fix, and I get anywhere between seven and eleven satellites. I say I don't tend to lose the fix, because it does seem to drop once in a while, but then it connects again right away, so I just don't pay all that much attention to it, especially when I know there are tall buildings where I'm walking

Man, that's just flat wrong! I had an old Magelan, the Holux 236
and now the m-1000. I get faster acquisition time, longer
battery life, and better accuracy with the 1000 then with the
other receivers, all of which were claims I had heard before
buying it and all of which have been true. I use the 1000 in its
case in my pants pocket, coat pocket, shirt pocket, or clipped to
the voicenote strap. Have no problems though it may slow
acquisition time, especially if you are on a bus.
