I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced the following. My Holux had been working fine until one day when leaving work. we cut through a parking lot and while passing between to cars the side mirror of one made a direct hit on the receiver. I instantly lost coverage. I spent some time opening up the unit and reseated the battery. That seemed to make it work. However, the unit is now very unreliable. I generally have to try pairing with it several time before heading out, the PK will suddenly say Cannot find bluetooth receiver when I haven't even moved. It's like the unit is going on and off. So my basic question is, just how fragile are these receivers? You haven't lived until you've been whacked in the gps! I am using both the PK and mPower running KS 7.2 and I cannot duplicate this issue. This is in no way to indicate that there is not a problem. I have found one area of concern that was introduced in KS 7.2 and would like you to attempt the following to see if your problem is resolved. Steps 1 Remove any storage cards. 2 From the main menu do a hard reset, BT dots 4,5,6 + reset, QT j,k,l+ reset. Be sure to hold down the keyboard keys until the keysoft version is displayed or herd. If this reset is successful you should hear two beeps before the KS version is announced. ** note ** This reset will reset all Bluetooth pairing. 3 At the main menu go to options, connectivity and Bluetooth. At the Bluetooth menu be sure Bluetooth is on, and your receiver is on. Space to the next item and answer yes to search for devices. When the search is complete select your receiver from the list. 4 With your receiver on the list depress enter until the selection announces Pair and activate Bluetooth device. Respond yes to Pair the receiver. You will be prompted for the pairing code. The code for the Holux is 0000 if in grade two Braille be sure to use the number sign. 5 You should receive an announcement that the device is paired and active. At this point do a normal reset. ** note ** the normal reset will reset all device active settings. 6 From the main menu go to options, connectivity, and Bluetooth. You should receive the message Bluetooth on, space to the next list and respond no to search devices. You should now be at the list of Bluetooth devices. Space down the list for your receiver and the announcement should be Holux slim 236 paired. 7 Depress enter on your device you should now hear a message "Remove Pairing for device or activate active sync. Respond with "a" to activate. You should be presented with a message "list of devices" space to your device and you should receive the message "Device Paired and Active. 8 Return to main menu. These steps should only be required when pairing your device after a hard or service reset. Just remember that after a normal reset the Bluetooth device must be reactivated by starting at step 6. Please try these steps and let me know is you are still having problems. Have noticed ever since the lousiest upgrade humanware has ever invented that active sync keeps loosing focus and knocking out coverage to my holux 236 on both the Braille Note and Voice Note mpowers. It doesn't do this at all on the pk but I absolutely can't have this especially now that the Braille Note is at humanware getting a new battery charging thing and the Pk has completely locked up so I am using the voice Note and was trying a route to a new area and we did not have coverage for close to 90% of the way. Fortunately I was in a slightly familiar section. but we simply can't have this but I want to know if anyone else is having this problem. It isn't the receiver because once we reactivate the active sync the receiver kicks in right away. But man oh man this upgrade stinks plain and simply. Mary Ellen Earls
