Hi,
Some of you have written me privately about the Humanware Town Hall coming up in Southern California this weekend. I'll be at the presentation in Anaheim this Friday night at the Braille Institute. The town hall will also take place live and on the web on Saturday Morning at the Junior Blind of America.

Here is the information in case you wish to listen in.
John

Hello Listers.

Per the message below, HumanWare will be live at the Junior Blind of America to present some of its new products as well as some of its standard products. While this is for Southern California, we wish to share the presentation through Talking Communities. Both voice and/or typed questions will not be handled during this presentation as it is a Southern California (CCB/HumanWare collaboration.

We do hope that some of you will listen in at 11 a.m. this Saturday Pacific Daylight Time.

Best,

Ken Metz

Dear DPI Computer Users Group Member,

Humanware will present a new GPS device, the Trekker Breeze, from 11:00 AM until 0200 PM on Saturday June 7, 2008. All of the Humanware products will be presented, and persons who are present will have an opportunity to ask questions and have a chance at a hands-on demonstration of all of the products. The presentation will be held in the cafeteria of the Junior Blind of America. Sandwiches, light snacks, and sodas will be provided by Humanware.

If you are coming on Access, plan to arrive by 10:45 or earlier. If you are coming on Access, you will need to schedule your drop-off for the back gate which is at the rear of the Junior Blind at the corner of Alviso and 54th. Pickups should also be scheduled on or after 2:15 PM from the back gate. If
you have a cell phone, it is a good idea to give that as a callout number.

If you need it for Access, the main address for Junior Blind of America is 5300 Angeles Vista Blvd. in the View Park area of Los Angeles. The nearest large
cross streets are Angeles Vista and Valley Ridge.

When you arrive at the back gate, dial 111 so that dorm staff can let you in.

For those of you who will be accessing from a remote location using a computer, we will arrive by 10:00 Saturday morning, so we will be ready to test the online conference room by 10:15. This presentation will be Broadcast Only; this means that you can listen from a remote location, but you will not be able to submit questions. Following are instructions for accessing the Talking Communities Meeting Room. If you log in on Saturday morning, start at
10:15 or so so that you will be sure that you can hear the broadcast.

When you click on the direct room link listed below, you are taken to

the initial sign-in screen where you simply select the download client

button.

If you already have it on your computer, you can skip this part. If an

update is required, however, you will want to download it. There would

be no need to uninstall a prior version as the most current software

will install over the older version. When the installation is complete

(requiring only a minute or less), you should then run the program. When

that is finished, you will again be in the original sign-in screen. Tab

to the enter room button and press Enter.

Enter your name, and non-moderators should then tab past the password

field, and press enter on the log in button. That's it.

Now, here is the direct link:

If this does not show up as a link in your Email, you can select it and copy it into your Run line as follows:

Move to the line that has the address and press Home to make sure you are at the beginning of the line.

Press Shift+End to select the entire link.

Press the Windows key to get to the Start menu.

Press the letter R for the Run line.

Press Control+V to paste the link into your Run dialog.

Now, press Enter to get to the Talking Communities room.

If you have any questions, call the computer lab at Phone 323-295-4555 extension 297 and ask for Robert Sweetman or Bert Borja.
