Hi Tina, Take the receiver and BrailleNote with you when you go with your friend. This way you can mark the POI while you are at the location the first time. You can then use the POI to find your way back. Hope this helps. Chris On Thu, 9 Oct 2008 09:03:00 -0700, "Tina B." <tinabir@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:Hi. This might be a dumb question, but does the receoiver have to be with you for marking user pois? I ask because they have put new recycle cans in the middle of one of our parking lots and I wanted to mark that but to gowith someone first to find it so was thinking of not taking the receiver tilI went later on my own.----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Bosher" <peter@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, October 09, 2008 6:01 AM Subject: [gps-talkusers] Re: Africa trip and suggestion about countriesHi Mike and All,Just a further thought on this: would it be feasible to have a simplified world map as an overlay that is built into Sendero, so that regardless ofwhich maps you have, instead of 'position unknown' the software wouldalways know, in general terms, where you are, even over the Pacific Ocean,English Channel, Bosnia, or wherever? This would be great for virtual exploration too! Further fuel for the wish-list? Best, Peter At 06:39 PM 10/8/2008, you wrote:Peter,That is a wonderful report. I too have wished for that country reference. As you say, the cities don't have their country along with them so if you don't know what country your over, and don't recognize the city, you don'tknow the country. We will add this to our wish list. One thing is to simply have the countryalong with the city name. The bigger challenge is to know which country map you are over. MikeHi All, I'm just back from a trip to Ethiopia, where I was training in a music school in Addis Ababa. Sendero was running for most of the flight out, and thanks to the European and African city POIs it was truly fascinating to track the flight east through France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Bulgaria, then, I think, south through Turkey, Greece, and then into North Africa. We stopped in Amman, Jordan, where I found that we were 33 miles east of Jericho, and about 45 from Jerusalem, where there were a whole bunch of Mike's user POI foot-prints. It made the flight a thousand times more interesting, but here's my suggestion. I had to guess the countries we were flying over by trying to find familiar city names or just guessing from the language, but would it bepossible to have a built-in country reference, so that even if you don'thave the maps and POIs, you would always know which country you were flying over, anywhere in the world? Of course it isn't a huge priority, but maybe Mike and Charles could think about whether it's relatively easy to do? In any case, as ever, Way to go Sendero.
