For the record: great idea! When my BN started giving me percentages for file downloads, it was extremely helpful--not just a beep every three seconds, but after "watching" the percentage for a few seconds I knew if I wanted to continue because I knew about how long it would take. Speaking of which, here is another suggestion: an option to abort an operation, such as a long route. A reset is annoying, especially with a bluetooth receiver, and just being able to exit an accidental route calculation or gathering of all streets in a huge city would be nice.

Have a great day,
Alex

Subject: [gps-talkusers] percentage indicator

Dear GPS List,

I am not sure if this is a suggestion that has been already
brought up yet, but I will throw it out there. I think there should be some sort of percentage indicator when the GPS is loading either maps, a route, finding a poi, and other functions in which it will have swishes. It is nice to know that for every three second there is one swish, and if the user has a Braille display they are able to see how many swishes has it gone through thus far. But, it can take as many as one swish to a few hundred swishes to do an operation, so this is a reason why a percentage indicator would be useful, so the user is able to have some sort of comparison and some expected time in which it will complete the operation.
