Mary,

As far as I know, you cannot download a local map segment on Navigon nor do I think the entire country is resident on your phone.
So, if there is no phone connection, there would be no map data.

I just tried Navigon in my current location in the Teton National Park where there is limited phone service. It says my GPS accuracy is 2095 metres, which is well over a mile.
It also says I am traveling at 25 miles per hour but I am stationary.

I will try it tomorrow where there is no phone service and see what happens.

Mike

Mike,
I have an IPod Touch and Navigon. As you know, the Touch has no phone capability, and Navigon works on the touch, if you have the add on gps cradle. So why shouldn't it work if you have no cell connection since, except for things like traffic and weather data which I think are available on the latest upgrade and would require some sort of data conection, it shouldn't require a connection for gps. I know I used it with no wifi connection and it worked ok. Not as convenient to use as one of your products. But it ought to at least work for gps. Of course, its pois are sorely lacking.
