Yes its pretty wild that map data disappears, just ask Robert Carter, in GPS 4.0 his street was on the map in 4.2 TeleAtlas forgot to add his street. Thankfully he has his street back in 5.0 :)

I am pretty sure it is map error. I have been looking up places that I know for sure the address and what city the gps has put them in and they are completely gone. In the maps we used for 4.22 caledonia high school was in two different categories and 2 different addresses but with in the same city. When I went to the location virtually it said I was in caledonia area caledonia. In the new tele atlas maps the high school is is in the old location it moved about 8 or 9 years ago. One of the colleges I went to is also completely gone. I know some of it I can recreate. I am not able to get to the high school and recreate it that way. Thanks Charles for writing back. If I am able to go to the high school I will record it and get it put back on the map. Crazy how things are removed from map data even though it was correct in the previous one.----- Original Message ----- From: Charles LaPierre <charles@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To: gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date sent: Sat, 25 Oct 2008 21:59:23 -0700 Subject: [gps-talkusers] Re: problem recreating a poiHi Malaina,If you enter in an address and then the system asks which cross street you would like to use, then what has happened is thataddresswasn't found on that street. This could be map error or youcould belooking in the wrong city. There are some cities which streetsrunthrough and TeleAtlas uses a different city name for that sectionofthe street. I know very crazy, we have a whole section in ourmanualon ways around looking up addresses. Something to try is the following: If you can physically go to this school then add yourownuser POI this will be the most accurate and can then be sent to Sendero and it will be included for all users. Also once you gotothe physical location you can see what city the system "thinks"youare in, and then you can ask for detailed city information whichwillnot only give you the city, but the county, street and addressrangeof the street you are on.Thanks Charles. At 09:49 PM 10/25/2008, you wrote:I am having a problem recreating a poi that was taken off the new map for Michigan. For some reason the location of the school wasinthe previous maps but in both it current and it previous locations. Now the only location is the old one. Once I findthename of the old location I can rename it so I don't plan ontakingit off the map. But I am trying to put the current address intothemap and when I type the address it asks for a cross street. Is there a way I can set the correct address with out having to giveacross street? I think I am going to enjoy the new features of5.0once I can have a chance to go somewhere but I am finding a lotoferrors in the map data. I know sendero doesn't control the mapdatafrom tele atlas. Thanks for any help.MalainaCharles M. La Pierre CTO Sendero Group "The GPS company."
