I had the opportunity to try the Gil Lutz method of keeping my BrailleNote dry,
on a mildly rainy day here in Chicago. I took a standard plastic grocery bag,
poked two holes for the BrailleNote strap, rigged the unit inside the bag,
tucked the excess plastic into the case, and off we went. It never rained hard
but this means of keeping the BrailleNote dry worked great. I could of course
hear the unit fine but I could also read the braille display through the
plastic just fine as well.

We got a good ten miles of walking around the city. The rain never got bad
enough to make us dive for cover and it kept the temperature very pleasant for
a vigorous walk. Thanks for the tip Gil.
