Hi DR,

Excerpts from DR's message of 2012-03-03 09:08:22 +0100:

I don't know how dynamic configuration in NVIDIA is done, but the
NVIDIA driver is actually kinda support dynamic configuration.

Using nvidia-settings, it is possible to add new display and change
resolution on the fly. And i3 doesn't support this, by assuming "As
the nVidia driver cannot do dynamic configuration anyways, this is not
a big deal."
Well, you need to restart i3 inplace to make it pick up new Xinerama settings.
It is well explained in the multi-monitor document that the only sane way to
pick up new configuration on the fly is by using XRandR, and, AFAIK, nVidia’s
blob still doesn’t support this.

To answer your question on IRC: Of course I’m not using nVidia whenever I can
(not in any of my private machines for example).

Best regards,
Michael
