I tested it with:
i3-msg workspace 6 ; i3-msg exec urxvt ; i3-msg workspace 2
Which leads to urxvt starting on workspace 6 while I am seeing workspace 2.
Does that work for you?
Yes that works. I did a reboot as well to ensure urxvt was loading
it's slowest.
