However, i want to use the same config file for my pcs, and some of them do
not feature the same display name, i cannot have a generic file for i3bar.

Instead of the former "none" or display name?
This is not yet possible. It should be relatively easy to implement, though. If
you are interested in implementing it, let me know, and I will guide you (only
a bit of C knowledge required, nothing else). If you absolutely cannot
implement it yourself, you could still file a feature request ticket on
http://bugs.i3wm.org/
