Your 1D1C is really a good initiative which helps many newbies in this list
learning many linux commands.  But here there are many advanced users too.
My suggestion is that, you may also post information about new commands /
terminal applications which would benefit all type of readers.

I am suggesting few terminal kind of applications/commands which you may
consider for your 1D1C.

espeak - Software speech synthesizer (text-to-speech)
nethogs - A tool resembling top for network traffic
trickle - Portable lightweight userspace bandwidth shaper

@ Baskar - a nice comprehensive list suggested by you.

Additionally, I would suggest that put such postings in ILUG-Chennai
wiki or blog with searchable tags.   IMO, it would be in one central
place rather than searching the mailing list archives.
