Hi,
I am goin in for BSNL Broadband in chennai. When I
called up the tech support, they said that they had
two options: Huawei 841MT and Huawei WA 1003.
I use the Huawei WA1003 (Quidway). Great box for the price Rs. 1,800/-.
Works on ethernet and Wifi well on Linux. I've found it more stable than
DLink or Linksys - meaning reboots are required far less often. If you
are in the habit of turning off the box everyday, you should have no
issues. Continuous use of a week leads to hanging sometimes. DLink would
do so every 4-6 hours. Linksys was a little better. This behaviour has
nothing to do with Linux though.
I suggest that you do not use BSNL's DNS servers as they go down pretty
often. I use OpenDNS service and it is very stable.
