attempted something like this.
In my mac (BSD based) it works. You need to setup Virtual box to use the
host's wireless adapter in bridged mode. Set this bridge mode network
adapter as your second network interface in your guest. Leave the first
interface in the guest for NAT.
Another option if you are using a USB wireless adapter is to enable USB
filters in Virtual box. Add the wireless card in the filter list. Now boot
your guest OS and when it is done booting, unplug and plug your USB
wireless adapter. Your guest OS will now claim it. If your guest OS
supports the wireless card, you would be able to set it up as a network
interface internally without depending on the host.
My knowledge regarding the USB pass through option is based on using USB
key dongles and pen drives. Have not tried it with wireless adapters.
