Hi,
PDKSH is the best shell.
PDKSH supports the dialect of KSH88, which is now
obsolete. KSH93 (yes, the one written by David Korn)
is the best shell for creating very large scripts.
KSH93 is now Free Software and available on most
Linux distros just a yum or aptitude away.
Just for info, KSH93 supports floating point
arithmetic, typed variables, associative arrays pretty
much like other scripting languages. You can even
compile your shell scripts to a byte code executable
which loads and runs faster.
Cheers,
Chandrashekar.
