Dear List,
In the IITM campus, I have fast access to the Debian mirror at
ftp.iitm.ac.in. I want to install Debian (unstable) onto my computer.
One way to do this, I guess, is to get hold of a Knoppix CD, install
it on to my hard disk and then use the APT repository to get the
things I want. But I went for install over network, and did not
succeed, since the installer did not detect my hard disk! Then, I
somehow managed to fiddle around in expert mode and get the hard disk
detected, and the base install went on fine, but upon restart, it did
not complete the install since it could not contact the APT
repository, although I set the correct network settings.
The exact error I receive whenever i try this now, is "no
partitionable media found" when it comes to the partitioning disks
stage.
I use a proxy server to access the internet, and was installing using
a set of floppies.
Has anybody tried this out?
