[Ilugc] Fonts in Ubuntu

I've a Win-Ubuntu dual boot m/c. With the same resolution and font 
sizes, Win display is a lot better than Ubuntu for the same app - 
Thunderbird. Should be font rendition issue.

Any pointers to better font packs on Linux to remedy this welcome.
