Someone still managed to find my email addy listed on the site
somewhere as the "webmaster". Never Mind.
Seems they are in need of "CDs" and are in a remote place in Gujarat
where there is little access to tech. I have suggested them to get to
http://shipit.ubuntulinux.org.
Thought someone here might be kind enough to send out some CDs to this
person. Unfortunately all I have is lots and lots of various releases
of debian CDs.
Thanks,
-Suraj

Respected Sir,
I'm thaddeus from india. I've been using windows xp since a pretty
long time and now i'm thinking over to switch to linux. Frankly
telling you in gujarat we rarely use licensed versions of windows
because the vendor's from who we buy our assembled PC's they
themselves install the OS and could copy cd's for us and give us free
of charge. You won't imagine we have more than 10,000 users in our
city who use pirated versions of windows. It's very easy getting a
pirated version you won't imagine less then 50 Rs. Moreover we don't
face any problems with these softwares. Only companies like compaq,
hcl etc give licensed versions while local hardware guys could give it
at dirty cheap rates. I don't know of any anti-piracy squad that I
could complain to in India. If you any idea obout such a group then
please do let me know at the earliest.
Sir, i'm thinking over to switch to linux. I've heard that redhat is
the best for trying out. In our city there are no people using linux
and all are afraid of using linux as no one knows anything about it.
I even don't know where to look for linux that's why i decided to
seek your help. I've been to local vendors but they say that linux is
not used by the home user so we don't keep copies of linux.
I don't have an internet connection at home so it's difficult for me
to download the whole linux setup from any website.
Would it be possible for you to send me a cd of any version of linux
(suse,fedora,PCQlinux2005)? I'm keenly interested to work with linux
and I really want to experience it for the first time. If given a
chance to promote linux then it would be my greatest previlage.
I would be very obliged if you could send me a cd of linux (home
edition / desktop edition). Even an old version will do as you might
not be giving free distributions.
I'm making this request as I don't have access to the internet all
the time. It would be a great favor on me if you could send me the CD.
I hope you will consider my case and give me a favorable reply at
the earliest.
Looking forward to hear from you at the earliest.
Yours truly,
Thaddeus Fernandes
