Subject: [chennai.rb] [semi-commercial] Looking for article contributions
to techbot (www.techbot.in)
To: <chennairb at googlegroups.com>
We (techbot.in) are planning to launch a free weekly technical newspaper
(hybrid* - in print as well as digital form). We are primarily targeting
the print version at tech parks, educational institutes and conferences. I
am looking for articles that would be of interest to the general audience.
To give you some idea of what I have in mind here are few possible sections
(open to suggestions):
- *Cheat sheets*: Regular cheat sheets for the general audience,
- *Language/framework special *: Info graphic style description of
unique features of a language or framework. eg, mechanism & utility of
message passing in Erlang,
- *Inside a XXXX*: How does a particular system work, how to build your
own, architecture of OSS eg, web server, web framework, parser, compiler,
device driver, DBMS.
- *Exotic systems and concepts*: Something that not everyone gets to see
in their everyday life, something that have their own unique challenges :
Telecom systems, real time systems, embedded systems, travel reservation
systems/financial systems.
- *Others*: of interest "inside a Kinect", "inside a set-top box"
If you have neat ideas or articles but need some help with laying it out or
represent it graphically, we would be glad to take your notes and turn it
into articles.

* PS*: The intention of this paper is to close the gap between students,
engineers, techies, industries and startups - and to help them find each
other. Though this is not a IT specific paper, a substantial number of
sections cover CS/IT, as the target group is expected to find this the most
useful.
Also we would be glad to take commercial advertisements, it would be
particularly effective for Job ads to reach out to a wide group who are not
exactly scourging monster or naukri for their next job.. Though more
expensive than posting on naukri (half or quarter page Ads), it is a lot
more effective and saves days of effort spent on interviews particularly
when you plan on a 'big' ramp up but don't get the 'right' talent. Equally
true for those of you looking to advertise your products and don't want to
wait for months to reach the minimum user base.
**hybrid* - We plan to use the print version to reach out and to keep the
fire burning but expect the bulk of the readership to shift to the digital
version.
