Hallo,
I wanted to install Gnome-2.4 and so I unzipped
all the tbz2 files in my directory /gnome/GNOME2.4
I require help for the foll. two things:
1). Tell me how to extract all the .tar files
present in the source directory in a single command.
"man tar" didn`t give me the exact solution.
You can't.
tar -xvjf <package name> for each tar file.
If you want to loose your sanity by un-taring 76
packages and compiling them by hand, ur most welcome.
Just for info:
It took me 1 and half days to setup 2.4 on my Red Hat
9 box.
If you r planning to go ahead with this please make
sure you have your PKG_CONFIG_PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH
rite.
However you could try a couple of things.
1. Fedora Core 1 (or 2 Test): It comes pre loaded with
GNOME 2.4
2. Get GARNOME or jhbuild(somethin similar) and follow
the instruction given in the README.
Keep using GNOME tho,
Toufeeq
