Ahem... Apparently, I replied before reading Anoop's post... Sorry about
that. But fact remains testdisk saved my data twice and I'd bet on it for
data recovery. I guess it would be a good way to go.

reconstruct the original partition. Apart from the overwritten data(and the
corresponding files) I guess everything else should be intact.
