Major players like google have started using AAAA records in their DNS.
$ dig mx +short gmail.com
20 alt2.gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com.
30 alt3.gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com.
40 alt4.gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com.
5 gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com.
5 gmail-smtp-in-v4v6.l.google.com.
10 alt1.gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com.
$ dig aaaa +short gmail-smtp-in-v4v6.l.google.com

I noticed that google SMTP servers were blocking a large range of IPv6
address as bulk mailers. I guess, this is because, you can get a large
number of ipv6 address for free or at a very low cost. Anyway, I had to
use IPv4 with google SMTP servers to solve the problem. I guess, it is
going to take a while before such small problems are solved.
