I suggest using a wiki [1] in place of our existing website. The advatages -
1. No need to worry about administration
2. Anyone (at-least can restrict to ilugcians) can edit it
3. Anyone can put content into it.
4. Imagine the 'CDs for sale' page keep growing as users keep adding
the info. about the CDs they have
5. No centralized adminstration. A set of people can become the SysOp
and monitor the changes
6. Just use the RSS of 'Recent Changes' for monitoring changes, you
(admin) don't need to visit the 'Recent changes' page daily to find
culprits.
I guess it make sense for us to use the wiki. We don't need to ask
the list 'whether anyone is taking over the job of maintaining
website'. The point is everyone maintains the website (in their free
time) and the wiki helps them to do so, without much frills.
Please give me access to www.chennailug.org server, I will
install/configure mediawiki and let you all know.
