[Ilugc] Installing 2.4/2.6 kernel on RHL 7.0

Hi all,
    I want to improve the performance of our server which is running
PostgreSQL  on RHL 7.0. For this I think it is best to upgrade the
kernel to 2.4 or 2.6.  When I looked at the requirements specified in
Changes file some of the requirements are not satisfied. So my
question is whether I can install a new kernel without satisfying the
dependencies specified in Changes file.
    I have no spare server.
