Dear Friends ,
Please go through this link http://www.thelinuxvault.net/wiki/Main_Page
This is a very good attempt at having all the various Distros supported
under a single site.
I do know of the earlier Linux documentation attempts TLDP etc. but this is
the first distro specific documentation.
One of the weak points of India is its numbers, Of late India is
changing that in to its strength and here we can make a strong contribution
and perhaps that might even make the masses of this country adopt Linux.
More numbers mean more users -- who can contribute with documentation. we
need not move mountains, one sand grain at a time by our huge numbers
automatically move/make mountains.
Imagine a site where you can simply download all the steps that a Newbie
can just go, browse copy - paste all the commands ,code, macros, whatever,
you need to improve your productivity.
All of us use different Distros, are in love with specific Distros,
Perhaps we already have our own favorite links for the documentation of
various tasks that we need to do, perhaps we have our own scripts, which can
be shared, perhaps our own shortcuts of various things to be done in various
desktops or window managers. This is a good place to pool all these things
.
I can here skeptics saying that it might make the would be user a parasite
and might not be a good move but remember more market share implies more
bargaining power with hard ware vendors.
I do not know the mail id for the nrc foss if some one can forward this to
their mail id it would be great.
if any body is interested please do let me know we can do this as a group.
Regards
Raj
