Dear all,
I also think this to be a trap laid by MS to get
children and teachers like a piper[who blows superb
music using pipe to collect all the rats and finally
drop the rats that follow him into the sea]. I think
MS is some what frustrated and has jealosy on the
rapid development OSS products. Did you people read
the artcile on move from windows to LINUX[1 month
back] in the City corporation of MUNICH... and other
transitions from WIn to Lin.
If you have read this article you would know that MS
has come to a conclusion of trapping children and
teachers in their hand... and getting back to their
position.Adoption to a commercial software in schools
is total idiotic concept.
Why except APJ all other Indian politicians/and
authorities have gone/trying to get into the trap of
MS.I stongly oppose these kind of activities in India.
By all means GOVERNMENT should have adopted to teach
OSS in schools.
Let the discussion continue...

It really doesn't matter who does it, whether
Apple/Microsoft/Oracle/Sun. If
they are trying to penetrate schools and colleges,
they are building a
strategy to lock users down to their products and
services - thus
killing
freedom of choice for future companies when it comes
to recruiting
skilled
people, and also blinding humble students from
understanding their own
freedom of choice when it comes to deciding their
software career.

In my opinion, both Coke/Pepsi must stay far off from
school and
college
campuses. Promoting a _commercial_ product and/or
building a long term
business strategy on educational sectors is plain bad!
Any company with
decent etiquettes would never do it.

As an example, when you were at school, I presume that
you were never
forced by your school authorities to use "Cherry"
polish to shine your
shoes, nor were you forced to use "Bombay Dying" as
your fabric, nor
were
you compelled to use "Camlin" or "Hero" or "Parker"
pens to write.

When you were given freedom of choice in the earlier
aspects, I believe
the
same holds true when it comes to the current
generation students in
choosing the tools and software of their choice to get
their job
done. By the act of commercial companies penetrating
into educational
segments, this harmony is broken.
