The point is
0. LGBTQ people are humans and need equal rights and nothing less than
equal rights.
1. Discrimination against LGBTQ people is still severe (at all levels
of socio-economic activity) and more than 50% face it.
Do see the US and EU reports on LGBTQ discrimination and persecution.
2. Religious interference in Govt is a huge problem in the US. Apart
from wrecking the economy by not paying taxes, they have kept the
education system backward and the people intolerant and bigoted.
Progress on marriage equality in the US is not good enough.
3. Brendan Eich's religious interests are detrimental to the world at large.
4. If you dare to ignore all of the above, then the Mozilla project
will suffer horribly.
5. We certainly do not want fascists and bigots in positions of power.

"percentage of LGB people in urban UK is ~60%".
