I am not very sure I understand the question. You can configure a
machine to use NIS by editing a few files(passwd, group, nsswitch
etc). And of course, you will have the GUI even if you use NIS.
(and also GUI based NIS server )
I again do not understand what a GUI NIS server is :( Can you
please explain in a bit more detail, what you are looking for ? Thanks
