I would like to add the following details to my previous mail.
Audiance Expected:
IEEE Members only (Engineering students, Electrical, Electronics and
Computer Engineers, Senior people(?)).
Prof. Sriram had previously given a talk to IEEE earlier this year,
and we got a good response of about 100 people(from all over tamil
nadu).
The crowd is expected to be a good mix of completely novice to
partially experienced (in particular areas.) on Linux. But I guess
most of them have atleast the basic knowledge about Computers, and
many (?) might know some amout of coding also.
It would be nice if we could focus the show to an Engineering audiance.
As of the projecters stuff... .IEEE will arrange for us. We will have
to provide the volunteers, the software and the like. But I doubt, if
IEEE would be able to procure Linux boxes for the demo. If it is not
able to get that, then we will have to provide that also. IEEE would
arrange the place and other infrastructure (we have to specify what).
I quite doubtfull about linux boxes being organized by IEEE.
As of the timings... IEEE is looking into the month of October... some
weekend in October is what is in the mind right now.
so... to summarize, what they expect from us is a bunch of volunteers,
to conduct an workshop or a demo. If they are not able to provide the
Linux boxes and the software, then, we might have to take that also.
The infrastructure (place, timing, mic, power, projecters, audiances
and the like are in their court.

Hi all,
I am into the group after a very long time. I was having a talk with
one of the committee members of IEEE Madras. IEEE Chennai section
wants to conduct a workshop/demo/something on Linux(GNU/Linux) for
its members (student or otherwise), by ILUGC. It could be something
like "ILUGC conducts Linux workshop for IEEE members", or something
like that. I would like to have your views/comments, feasibility,
resources needed, etc? for the same. Please throw in your ideas,
views, etc? on what and how can be done.
