Dear people,
This mail is a reflection of my experience with ILUGC spanning more
than 6 years.
There are certain patterns I have observed and I want to communicate
something important.
This is for everyone's good. Please do not take it personally.
I am a plain speaker only for a sound reason. Sometimes we need to
swallow bitter pills, only
then serious problems can be resolved.
The idea is this.
There is a Sanskrit word called "Bhava".
What does the word mean?
It means this:
"The humility/attitude towards something."
Without the right bhava there is no life.
Without the right bhava there is no learning.
It is just humility in a different garb.
Without the right openness/humility towards the right people/right
knowledge great things cannot be done.
We should always work hard with a feeling of devotion, piety and humility.
I find this utterly lacking in our country today.
You may be super intelligent but you are useless to the world, nay
even yourself if you do not have
the right bhava.
I say this because recently I had a very painful experience working
very closely with someone who came from
LUG with all the characteristics I have known LUG to have.
Unfortunately this problem seems very characteristic of LUG since it
is not endemic.
I or for that matter anyone can condone conceit to a certain degree
but then without any accomplishment conceit
will be scorned upon and rejected like poison.
Why? It hurts you more than it hurts others.
Then why feel great about oneself ?
No matter what one does one should always feel the right Bhava towards
knowledge. Otherwise learning will stop.
This mail is a prayer to help you cultivate this right attitude.
Life is attitude and nothing else.
If you have the right attitude anything is possible.
Without it no matter how capable you are it is useless.
